Part Time Job to Go Please?

Personal

One of these days, I am sure to kill someone. In case you’re interested why, I will explain.

The past month has been a job hunt for me. I’ve applied at Target, Home Depot, Circuit City, Barnes and Noble, Bed Bath and Beyond, and numerous others. I also recieved a telephone call from Target, summoning me to an interview. I went to the interview and all seemed to go quite well as their front-end manager liked me. Suprisingly, three days after, I got a letter saying “We don’t want you here. You’re worthless and we don’t need people like you around,” except in a more professional manner. I spare the details.

You’d think that finding a job where I live would be easy, right? Not so. It would seem that every teenager would have been on the same quest, stealing all the jobs in front of me. I’m getting so frustrated with places, managers, and customer service reps. I’ve officially decided to find an alternative to Target, as horrible as that may seem. Hopefully I won’t have to sink to the level of Wal-Mart.

Also, if anyone reading this has connections that could help me out, please let me know. Otherwise, I’ll be screwed for college books. Loans aren’t exactly fun, student or not.

  1. I know how it was for me when I lived in SLC to find a job and it sucked, but I ended up going through a temp agency and landing a great job that i kept for 2 years (until I moved back to CA). Good Luck.

  4. HEY! class of 2005. nice.
i was indeed in the same boat as you with the job hunt thing. i applied all over. i even called up a graveyard, and they really like me and i expected to start a few days after. except they never called me. the other day, my mom calls me to tell me the maitenece guy at her work wants to hire me. so, i spend all the time looking for jobs and the best and highest paying job calls me? but anyway. best buy is usually hiring. but they dont hire just for the summer, as i discovered. compusa. your college? warehouses ALWAYS

  6. My objections to Wal-Mart aren’t the pay. I think you know that as well. I refuse to work for a place, or even support it, that treats minority workers poorly.

  7. Hate to break it to you my friend, but any more, virtually all stores have minority workers and treat them poorly: Wal Mart, Kmart, Target, Albertson’s, I bet even Best Buy and Media Play does…who do you think assembles all the electronics packaging and CD cases?

Sure Wal Mart is notorious for it, but I strongly believe they only have the bad rep because it gives the media something to bitch about, since the store does like to piss people off as is.

Oh my God….I just defended Wal Mart…kind of…yarr
